Empirical Texas Hold’em poker Tournament

After the theoretical study, Science forces us, as scientists, to verify our theories in an empirical phase. That’s the reason why it’s not about a commercial tournament, although the same experiment will be hosted by a large commercial schedule, but it’s about a real media event.

The scientific experiment

The empirical tournament will be at the end of 2022, in one of the most important casino in Europe, visited by all the player’s category. It will be realised by a free roll tournament poker, with a GTD provided by the organisation. It’s important to understand that we’re talking about a scientific  experiment, so the GTD has no strategic logic as usual you know, but we need it to guarantee the competitive dynamic of the game. Even if it is for a scientific aim, a final table without a prize-pool couldn’t guarantee any competitive dynamic. Furthermore, the GTD will totally be donated for charity.

The field 

The field will be composed by 50% of professional poker players – PPP – and the rest half by occasional players. The experiment’s results will be published in a book immediately after the empirical phase, and will join the historic literature of the Texas Hold’em poker. The aim of the form is to provide the researcher all the elements he needs to figure out each player’s profile, in order to analyse their results.

Expected results

From the theorical-conceptual approach to the Skill Poker Index’s model, it will expected that the best player’s decisions will produce the winner of the experiment. That’s not what happens in the traditional game. Also the experiment will use the same inductive analysis of Thesis Degree.
