Once we’ve clarified the legal-dictionary aspects of the definition of sport and the necessary requirements to be able to fall into the category, with respect to the critical issues of poker Texas Hold’em, with the next articles we will get into the elaboration of the Skill Poker Index.
The change of paradigm
The change of paradigm proposed by the new model, lies in the adoption of the interdisciplinary method as perspective of analysis and, in parallel, abandoning the concept of “acceptance” proposed in the past. Relying, therefore, on the qualitative tools that the theories of communication make available to fill the gaps in the interpretation of classical science. For example, comparing two combinations like KhKd vs AsKc, probabilistic calculation tells us that we are facing a a typical situation of 70-30, the combination Khkd is favored 70% of the time compared to AsKc. As stated in the second rule of “of “The Five Realities of Poker” [2007], and perfectly valid for a live tournament session, «in the short term luck is sovereign » [ibidem, 2007]. In other words, the same probabilistic calculation fails to tell us is when exactly that 70 or 30% probability will occur within the single spot.
Interdisciplinary Analysis to fill the Math information gap in Texas Hold’em live poker tournaments
The new communication sciences on the study of languages can offer the tools to fill the information gap, defining the situation in a more microscopic way through the use of signification process of new data available, where the latter are defined in the communicative dimension of information. During a live game, each player can access to an amount of information that is way higher than an online performance. In addition to the acquisition of all the mathematical data suggested by probabilistic calculation, the same athlete will have to simultaneously process data of different size, nature and quantity that online are impossible to reproduce.
